Dr. Upadhyay will do an initial psychiatric assessment for adults during a 60 minute appointment. During this visit, she will obtain a thorough medical and psychiatric history. Please bring with you a list of medications and pertinent tests and reports that you would like her to review.
Please note that typically medications are not prescribed at the time of the first visit until the assessment can be completed. During the assessment process, she may recommend lab work and request collateral information from other doctors and therapists that you may be seeing to be comprehensive in her approach. At the end of the assessment, she will recommend a 30 minute follow up visit to go over your diagnosis and discuss a biopsychosocial treatment plan.
Please remember that a treatment plan may or may not include medication. Dr. Upadhyay is conservative in her approach to medications. She will determine if prescribing a medication is part of your treatment plan.
